B-movie creature feature starring a bloke who was in La Bamba and some people I've never heard of. Bad scientists develop deadly mutant bats, who get loose and breed with normal bats, resulting in thousands of flappy killers who descend on and attack a small insignificant town. Armed with a hi-tech blob-charting computer program and a poor script - a pretty blonde animal expert, a forgettable male colleague, and the local sheriff, must deal with the creepy creatures before the army send in their grainy, stock-footage jet fighters.
The CGI bats in this film are terrible, but on the other hand the bat puppets are surprisingly good, and very amusing. And what the film lacks in frights or tension, it makes up for in explosions. There isn't much gore to be seen, and most of the deaths seem to involve people being nibbled to death while clutching rubber bat dolls against themselves.
But having said all that, the film is a lot of fun. It's all very silly, but it's entertaining and unintentionally funny. I have to admit, I enjoyed this quite a lot. 3.5/5
