After losing a baby, a married couple decide to adopt a pretty, intelligent 9-year old girl. But she is not what she seems, and soon the family find themselves in serious danger.
Orphan was actually a lot better than I expected it to be. Tension is built slowly, as we learn secrets and eventually a major twist is revealed. The use of violence and sexuality is (intentionally) quite uncomfortable in this film. In the titular role, Isabelle Fuhrman is absolutely amazing, especially as she was only 11 years old at the time of filming. Her performance in the later part of the film is astonishing.
Although the story is slightly far-fetched, it's still an entertaining movie, and I enjoyed watching it. 4/5
