Lock Up (2011)When a young woman offers to hand-deliver a letter for a blind man, she makes a terrifying and dangerous discovery.
For a 12-minute short made over just a few days, The Last One is actually pretty well filmed, with interesting camera work and editing. The score works well too, and the cheerful, 1920s-style jazz and gruesome imagery go disturbingly well together. It does have a couple of weaknesses though. The script feels a bit awkward sometimes ("If I wasn't cursed with this blindness I'd probably see a halo over your head") and the acting skills are a mixed bag. But despite that, it's still worth watching if you're up for an intriguing story, impressive visuals, and some very squirm-inducing gore. |
